TestMem5 (TM5) is a compact yet highly effective tool for stress-testing system memory. It’s especially popular among overclocking enthusiasts, as it can detect even minor stability issues that standard benchmarks often miss.
The program doesn’t require installation — just extract the archive and run the executable. Running natively on Windows, it stresses your RAM with a variety of test patterns designed to reveal hidden instabilities.
One of TestMem5’s key strengths is its support for custom configuration files (CFG presets). This allows users to select different testing profiles, ranging from light to extreme. Some of the most well-known presets include anta777 Extreme, Absolut, and others.
Key features:
- Tests RAM stability under overclocked settings.
- Detects memory or memory controller errors.
- Fully configurable through external CFG files.
- Logs errors automatically and shows test progress in real time.
How to use
- Download and extract the program.
- Run it as administrator.
- Load your preferred configuration file (e.g., the Extreme preset).
- Start testing and let it complete several cycles.
- If no errors appear, your memory is stable. If errors occur, try lowering the frequency, loosening timings, or testing individual modules.
TestMem5 remains one of the most accurate and lightweight RAM testing tools available, making it an essential utility for memory tuning and overclocking with DDR3, DDR4, or DDR5 systems.

The original tool (v0.12) was created by Serj but was later abandoned. Today, the community relies on version 0.13, maintained and improved by CoolCmd, which fixes various bugs and enhances overall usability. Official GitHub page.
⚠️ Antivirus warning:
Some antivirus programs — including Windows Defender — may falsely flag TestMem5 as malware.
This is a false positive: this happens because the program is written in Assembly,
which often triggers heuristic scanners sensitive to low-level code.
