AFUWIN is AMI’s utility for flashing and managing BIOS/UEFI firmware on Windows. Compatible with AMIBIOS8, Aptio 3, 4, 4.5, and 5. Available as a console tool (AFUWINx64.exe/AFUWIN.exe) and as a GUI (AFUWINGUI.exe).
Besides AFUWIN, there is also AFUEFIx64 (for UEFI Shell) and AFUDOS (for DOS).
Features
- Create a full backup (dump) of the current BIOS/UEFI.
- Validate the image and ROM ID for compatibility.
- Flash key SPI regions:
Main BIOS,Boot Block,NVRAM. - Work with capsule images (if supported), preserve user settings (Setup/SMBIOS), perform auto-reboot.
- Access Intel regions (ME/GbE/FD) when they are not locked.
⚠️ Critical Safety Warning
AFUWIN carries serious risks. Mistakes can permanently brick your motherboard. The process can erase unique data including serial numbers, MAC addresses, and other identifiers.
Power interruptions or crashes during flashing will corrupt the SPI flash, requiring a hardware programmer for recovery. Always create backups and store them securely!
